The Population of Aldershot and Farnborough

The Census 2001 shows the population of Rushmoor as 90 987, but people often ask for the population of the two towns.

It is convenient to divide the Borough along the line of the Basingstoke Canal and describe north of the canal as Farnborough and south as Aldershot. This division approximates to the boundary between St Marks and Wellington wards so information can summarised by grouping the wards (see maps on right hand side "Wards in Aldershot or Farnborough".

The following table shows the wards and population in 2001 for each town.
