The story ranges from the tribulations of the Israelites under the domination of the Egyptians, through their escape across the Red Sea, to celebration and triumph on their release.

It's a big sing for the choir, with many powerful choruses to dramatise the events described in the text. The libretto for Israel in Egypt is by Charles Jennens, famous for creating the libretto for Messiah. The Waverley Singers is a choral society of about 90 voices based in Farnham, with members and supporters from a wide area of Waverley, Rushmoor and East Hampshire Districts and beyond.
