VE Day street party

Planning a VE Day street party? Here's what you need to do if want to hold a 70th anniversary VE Day street party in Aldershot and Farnborough.

Street parties are a great way to celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE Day and bring a sense of community to your local area.

A street party doesn't need to be complicated. If you don't want to organise a big event, you could hold a party in your garden or driveway.

Organise a street party

If you're thinking about organising a small street party to celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE Day, we want to make it as easy as possible for you.

Please complete our pdf icon Community events application form [65kb] and post it back to us.  We will look at your application and get back to you within ten working days.

If you need public liability insurance for your event, we may be able to help cover the costs (up to £75).  We will let you know if you qualify.

Deadline for VE Day street party applications

We normally need eight weeks to process a street party application, but we have extended the deadline for VE day events to Friday 24 April.

If you need public liability insurance, you will need to have this in place before the 24 April deadline.

For more information about organising your party, please contact us using the details on this page.

Top tips for a successful street party

As long as you're not selling food or alcohol and your party is a private, free event you don't need a licence.

For top tips on running a successful street party download the pdf icon Your guide to organising a street party [335kb] from the Communities and Local Government website.
