Farnborough Airport community environmental fund grants

For every take-off or landing at Farnborough Airport, the community environmental fund receives money to help support local projects.

About the fund

The airport pays a levy of £2 for every take-off or landing or £5 if the aircraft is a Boeing business jet or an Airbus A310 corporate jet.

This money goes into the community environmental fund, which we manage.

If you are a group or an organisation, you can apply for a grant from this fund to support your environmental project, as long as it meets the following conditions.

Funding conditions

To apply for a grant, your project must:

  • Improve an existing facility or site, or introduce a new facility that everyone can use and enjoy
  • Be in an area that is noticeably and regularly affected by aircraft coming in and out of Farnborough Airport
  • Be within three miles (five kilometres) of the centre of the runway - we class this as being halfway down the main runway

How to apply

You can apply online for a community and environment fund grant.

Or download our pdf icon Community and environment fund application form [180kb] and return it to us using the details on the right of the page.

Our Cabinet considers applications three times a year and you can apply up to one month before:

MeetingDeadline for the applications
End of FebruaryEnd of January
End of June End of May
End of October End of September

We are happy to receive supporting documents and photos to back your application.

What happens once you've applied

A panel, including the Cabinet member for the environment, looks at all the applications and makes recommendations to the Cabinet.

We consider each case on its merits and will try to fund as many appropriate schemes as we can.

If your application is successful

We will pay the grant to the organisation that will responsible for making sure the money is spent directly on the project.

You will need to start work on the project within three months and complete it within your proposed timescale, unless we have agreed in writing special arrangements.

Once the project is complete, you will have to give us a detailed account of your spending.

We will also invite you to do a presentation on your project in February.

If you do not use the grant within one year of receiving it, you must return it to us so we can put in back in the fund for other projects. This is unless we have agreed in writing special arrangements.
