About town twinning

Why the council has twin towns and how your group can get involved in town twinning.

The council has been involved in town twinning since 1974 and is now twinned with Meudon in France, Oberursel in Germany and Sulechów in Poland.

Why the council has twin towns

To build up links and partnerships between clubs, societies and schools in Rushmoor with like-minded organisations in our twin towns.

Why we need these links

  • They play an important part in building up our understanding of other countries and cultures
  • They provide opportunities for residents, such as educational visits, performing in music or dance festivals, participating in sports tournaments, exchanges
  • We can learn from how organisations in parts of Europe do things

Which local groups are involved

About 25 local organisations are involved in twinning activities.

These include:

  • Sports clubs
  • Dance schools
  • Choirs
  • Bands
  • Charities
  • Camera club
  • Primary and secondary schools
  • The Sixth Form College, Farnborough

How to get involved

The Twinning Association of Rushmoor manages the links between local organisations and those in our twin towns.

If you'd like to find out more about twinning or how your group or school could get involved in setting up its own twinning links, please contact the twinning coordinator using the contact details on this page.
