Public Safety Zones

Find out about the Public Safety Zones at Farnborough airport.

There are Public Safety Zones at either end of the runway at Farnborough airport. These are areas where development may be restricted.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is responsible for putting in place these Public Safety Zones. The Department for Transport's circular Control of Development in Airport Public Safety Zones sets out how this is done.

The CAA carried out a public notification process to revise the Public Safety Zones. This notification process ended on 10 January 2013. You can see the area covered by these revised zones on the pdf icon Revised Public Safety Zone map [4Mb].

We have reported the revised zones to the council's Development Management Committee and Cabinet. On authorisation from the CAA (date to be confirmed), we will adopt these Public Safety Zones for use when we consider any planning applications in the areas affected.
