This includes a strategic assessment of housing and economic land availability and of brownfield sites in Rushmoor.

There are two key documents on land available for development in Rushmoor.  These are the Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) and the Brownfield Land Register.

It is important to note that just because a site has been included in either the Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment or the Brownfield Land Register does not mean that it will be allocated, or that we will grant planning permission for the site.

Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA)

This Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment is a technical piece of evidence that identifies sites with housing and employment potential across Rushmoor.

Brownfield land register

We are required to keep and maintain a brownfield land register to identify the brownfield sites in Rushmoor that we consider are available, achievable and suitable for housing-led development, as defined by government regulations on brownfield land registers.

This is the latest version of our brownfield land register:

Brownfield land registers are a way that councils can identify previously developed land (brownfield sites) which benefit from permission in principle.

However, because the entire borough is within five kilometres of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area the requirements of the habitats regulations mean that land in the borough is not eligible for permission in principle.

Suggest a site with development potential

We are happy to receive details of new sites that we could include in the next update of the Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment and/or brownfield land register.

You can find out more about suggesting a new site on our suggest a site page.
